Over 10,000 Supporters Storm Enugu Airport To Welcome President Buhari

Alexandra Umeh, ENUGU – Nigeria (GVE) – President Muhammadu Buhari was on Tuesday, 14 November, welcomed by a crowd of supporters on his arrival at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu for a two day working visit to Ebonyi and Anambra States.

The overwhelming crowd numbering about 10,000 in their traditional songs, chanted and danced in joy as they celebrated his arrival.

The Presidential Jet 5N-FGT, landed exactly 10:30 a.m. and he came out of his Jet at 10:42 a.m. and the President took out time to greet the large crowd of supporters, fans, admirers and his political supporters as well, as he waved to them repeatedly, walking round the airport arena.

He also briefly exchanged greetings with some governors from the south east zone who came to receive him, took some minutes of salute from a Presidential Guard-of-Honour mounted in his honour by a joint army and air force personnel at the airport arena, before exchanging pleasantries with Ministers, Former Ministers, heads of security services, top government functionaries and some traditional rulers from Enugu State.

President Buhari was airlifted in a Presidential Chopper at exactly 11:05 enroute to Ebonyi State, where he was expected to inaugurate some projects.

The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi would later applaud the President for making a brief stop-over to greet Nigerians living in the state while also lauding all the associations and political formations for making Buhari’s reception a success.

“I am over whelmed with joy over the show of love and solidarity of Enugu residents to our admirable and loving President as he visits the South-East; which Enugu State is the capital of the zone,” he stated briefly.

The South-East governors that received Mr. President included; Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State; Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State; Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo State; while Gov. Yahya Bello of Kogi State (North Central and neighbouring state to Enugu State came to the airport as well).
