2018 Countdown: Lagos State Govt Announces Street Carnival To Usher In Yuletide
Bamidele Fashube, ABUJA, Nigeria (GVE) – Lagos State government on Thursday, unfolded plans to hold a Street Carnival To usher in the 2017 Yuletide season.
The event is slated to hold on 3rd of December.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s Special Adviser on Tourism,Arts and Culture, Adebimpe Akinsola said the event will boost the state’s economy.
She said over 700 revelers will attend the carnival in colourful costumes and designn in a controlled procession adding that arrangements have been made to ensure adequate security and free flow of traffic.
According to her, the event would be staged on the whole stretch of Oba Akran Road in Ikeja for 12 hours, commencing from noon to midnight, stressing that alternative routes will be provided to motorists.
She further, noted the event has been packaged to meet the level of people within diverse age ranges.
Earlier, the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde, stated that the carnival is aimed at showcasing the diversity of Lagos culture, the veteran and new artistes in the music industry as well as comedians.
